Spreading Gold, also known as Red Sage and Lantana Camara, is a tender perennial native to Central and South America. Danziger developed the Gem series for its superior branching and heat and drought tolerance. This cultivar offers a mounded habit of 8-10" tall and 10-12" wide, with yellowish flower clusters blooming from spring through summer. Grow Lantana as an annual in cold regions or as a perennial in zone 9-11, where it is root hardy. Vibrant flowers attract butterflies and hummingbirds to sunny landscape borders, hanging baskets, mixed containers, and xeriscapes. Lantana is heat tolerant, long-blooming, and beautiful in the garden. This compact variety is particularly well-suited to containers, baskets, and use as a houseplant.
